Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a Junior Associate Financial Planner with both experience and accreditation. You will combine your attention to detail with effective communication to support the advisors and clients of Imperial Lifestyle Management. This is not meant to be a primary sales role, your ability as a qualified financial planner, and working with planning software is most important.
Ideally you have a proven background of exceptional customer service and enjoy building relationships with clients. You will work directly with the advisors, clients, and other professionals to ensure clients immediate needs are being met.
This is not an entry level role, and we are looking for someone with relevant and relatable experience to the position laid out below, who is looking for long term employment and growth within our company. Although the work hours and schedule are flexible, the first 3-6 months of training will be in office or on site with clients, with few exceptions. This will give you an opportunity to meet our team, understand the processes, our clients, and expectations before working more independently on your own.
What is the opportunity?
As a Junior Associate Financial Planner at Imperial Lifestyle Management, you will be responsible for the execution and administration of financial plans, investments, and insurance sales opportunities for clients. You will work closely with the Client Advisors to identify opportunities, and research appropriate solutions. You will be required to adhere to regulatory requirements and compliant sales practices and will drive sales growth of sales through exceptional client service and sales delivery.
What you’re responsible for:
- Building and maintaining client financial plans and client files.
- Working with third party service providers on behalf of the client to share information as needed to complete client goals. (Ex: Bankers, Mortgage providers, insurance companies)
- Effective discovery discussions, leading to tailored solutions aligned to our clients’ needs
- Identifies gaps, issues and best practices through monitoring of sales and service performance targets against plans.
- Educating and advising customers about ILM suite of products
- Implementation of monthly budget/cash flow for clients including credit management and tax instalments
- Manage wire transfers and other internal and external payments including use of commercial banking
- Support Client Advisors throughout sales opportunities by tracking and maintaining the Investment Sales Pipelines
- Proactively complete client reviews and needs analysis focusing on insurance & wealth management products.
- Performance reporting / tracking progress and analytics
- Maintain client records, and timely follow ups for future and on-going client correspondence relating to all policy administration, premium payments, and annual reviews
- Keeps current with the wider financial services marketplace, the legal and regulatory environment, and our commitment to uphold the highest ethical requirements of our industry.
- Maintains current knowledge of personal banking products, practices, and trends and integrates into customer conversations.
Preferred Experience:
- Conquest financial planning experience
- 2+ years of Financial Planning experience
- 2+ year of private client/high net worth client experience
- Previous experience overseeing client services and support
“Must have”: Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong business communication and presentation skills, highly driven and self-motivated with a positive and enthusiastic attitude
- CFP or other financial planning designations OR on your way to becoming an accredited advisor.
- Strong understanding of cash flow and credit management
- Strong understanding of the insurance industry, sales, products, placement
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Excellent computer literacy: Gmail, Google Drive (Sheets, Docs), Windows Office Suite including Excel and Word, Adobe for PDF editing and management.
- Great ability to focus

Useful Knowledge and Skills
- Financial Advisor, tax planner, or admin experience in the investment, tax or banking industries.
- Understand and adhere to applicable industry regulations and privacy law
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Relevant work history in sales roles would be useful
- Takes the initiative to find creative approaches that make each customer’s experience feel personal.
